Sleepless nights at Hanoi’s overloaded hospitals
Published: 20/09/2011 12:00
Patients and their relatives are being left to sleep in corridors and on benches as many of Hanoi’s hospitals are suffering from being overloaded.
Sleeping in corridors
People cramped on small beds. Each bed costs VND250,000 (USD12) with an additional VND150,000 (USD7.2) for mosquito net. People also have to buy a lock worth VND50,000 (USD2.4) to deter thieves.
People who fail to buy beds and nets face a sleepless night.
If it is a dry night, patients and relatives sleep out on the Bach Mai Hospital campus

Hospital fees are set to rise and patients expect improvements in health services |
